Are you tired of iOS 7 white interface? Is it hurting your eyes when you use it at night especially in a dark environment?
Check out the new tweak recently released in Cydia called Eclipse developed by Guillermo Moran. What Eclipse does is that it enables night mode which darkens the stock iOS apps as well as 3rd party apps to shades of grey such that it prevents eye strain during night time.
Night mode is one of the feature’s that we’ve been waiting for Apple to implement into iOS and we’ve seen other 3rd party apps implementing night mode into their apps such as Tweetbot. Eclipse is that tweak which will enable night mode on your device. Although not quite perfect, the developer has promised to release updates in the future. Check out our video walkthrough of eclipse below.
Eclipse includes a setting pane where you can enable or disable the tweak, darken wallpapers, enable orange tint such that the blue text and button outlines are colored orange and an experimental option to enable “Darken UIViews” which darkens everything light-colored.
Once you enable the tweak, you’ll have to close all running apps so that the effects take place. Eclipse doesn’t look quite good on some stock iOS apps such as Calendar, Safari, Notes and some other native apps.
The developer has informed that a new update will be released in the near future which will include:
- Automatic night mode such that the tweak is enabled or disabled based on scheduled times
- Safari will be made dark
- Fixes a bug where iTunes interface doesn’t turn dark
- Disable eclipse for certain apps
- And many more
Eclipse is available in Cydia via BigBoss repo for $0.99 and works on all iOS 7 devices except iPad.
