This year, Apple has introduced a number of new products and features available on their devices. But if there’s one thing that promises to be a revolutionary product, it would definitely be Apple Pay. Just recently, we reported that the service will be used on two MLB stadiums. Along with this, there are already a number of people who are getting excited to be able to use their devices when making a purchase. Not to mention, retailers are also looking forward to using the service with their products.
For Apple Pay customers, there is more than just being able to use the service on your device. If you have plans on using the service, you’ll be pleased to know that you’ll be rewarded for it later on. Earlier this week, Apple announced the service to the public. But apart from this, Apple may be in the works for a loyalty rewards program for those who use the service.
Back in September, there was a report about the rewards program that Apple was reportedly working on. At the time the report was made, Apple Pay wasn’t announced to the public yet. Just a few days ago, Bank Innovation has produced a new report coinciding with the rumored rewards program. According to the report, the Loyalty Rewards Program of Apple Pay may be launched as early as the holidays.
“The loyalty program looks like it will come this year, based on Digiday’s timetable. This was unexpected — many had assumed the program would wait until the launch of Apple Pay 2.0, tentatively scheduled for October 2015. It looks like market demand pushed the timetable up to this holiday season, which my sources within the retail industry have said for some time is “super unlikely.“
But how would Apple actually make money off their Apple Pay service? According to earlier reports, Apple may be planning to monetize the service by integrating it with iAds. Along with the use of iBeacons and Bluetooth LE, targeted ads would provide merchants an easy way for their customers to ‘buy’ their items.
