We’ve seen quite a handful of iPhone 6 mockups, case designs, schematics and even the rear cover in the past coming from Chinese and other Asian sources. Recently, Sonny Dickson, a credible source of Apple’s hardware rumors, has been posting tweets suggesting that Apple is taking strong measures to crack down on iPhone 6 leaks.
He says that the company is working in cooperation with Chinese officials to reduce the amount of iPhone 6 leaks. The numbers of these leaks are higher than any previously announced iPhone so it’s no doubt why the company is beefing up its secrecy. It has hired approximately 200 security officers to catch merchants who are selling the iPhone 6 accessories.
Back in May last year, Tim Cook stated that Apple will “double down” on secrecy when it comes to the company’s future products, but this hasn’t been the case considering the amount of iPhone 6 leaks we’ve seen.
With a lot of manufacturing partners in other countries who are preparing components of the upcoming iPhone 6, it’s quite difficult for Apple to make sure that none of them leak parts of the device and maintain the secrecy.
