DataMeter: Keep Track Of Your Data Consumption

DataMeter is a tweak released by Minuit recently. As the name suggest, it displays the Wi-Fi and Cellular data traffic information. It is a great tweak for all of us, because it helps keep track of the data usage (whether wi-fi or cellular) on daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The best part of this tweak is that, it has the option to display the information on the status bar or in the notification center. These features can be configured in the “Settings” menu.

To display the data usage on the status bar, navigate to Settings > DataMeter > Display Settings > Status Bar Rate Style. The rate which will be displayed on the Status bar depends on the connection you are using currently. On the other hand, you can keep track of your usage in the notification center also. To do this, go to Settings > Notification Center > on the Today View section toggle on the DataMeter. You can later re-position where to display the DataUsage in the Notification Center.

Another interesting feature it has which is very useful for the cellular data usage is that you can set in the monthly data limit you have and it displays the remaining amount of data you can consume before it reaches it limit. This can be configure by navigating to Settings > DataMeter > Limit and Correction, then you can enter the limit you have. For example you have a monthly limit of 1GB. Enter this amount (1000, because the amounts are measure in MB)in Total Cellular Data. This can also be used for Wi-Fi data usage.

 This tweak is a very useful tweak as it helps you to manage your data usage. Since most cellular networks charge you an extra fee once you consume your monthly data limit, this tweak makes sure you won’t incur those additional fee once you pass the limit.
